Spotlighting an Education Leader

Situation:

Seven years ago, the Good Morning America crew served breakfast in bed to ICEF Public Schools Founder and CEO, Mike Piscal, after its elementary school students wrote letters naming him a hero in their community.  

Strategy:

In the seven years since the Good Morning America feature, Piscal has transformed a historically neglected neighborhood and created an educational program that has benefitted thousands of students.  With an established track record of success, ICEF quickly grew to an organization of thirteen schools in which 100 percent of their graduates have been accepted to college.  

Solution:

The Larson Communications team:

  • Developed critical messaging for ICEF to deliver to Good Morning America, including articulating ICEF’s ability to revitalize a neighborhood through education.  
  • Crafted a news announcement positioning ICEF as a national leader in education reform.
  • Helped showcase the fact that several of ICEF’s elementary students from Good Morning America’s first feature were now succeeding at some of the nation’s top colleges and universities.
The Good Morning America segment raised the national profile of ICEF and positioned Piscal as a visionary in education reform.
